Scores
If winning isn't everything then why keep scores?
I will tell you why, but before that let us take a dive into the reality realm where everyone thinks that life is all about a race. Where infant minds are fed with the thoughts of competition instead of self discovery. All the blames are unfortunately accounted under the tab of our mainstream educational system. A wise man once said and I quote "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live it's whole life believing that it is stupid". Likewise, if you expect every kid in the school system to be academically brilliant then all the misfits will live a life of guilt and be a deadbeat.
Now rolling back to winning and keeping scores, we are taught that failures are stepping stones to success. Being that said only failure alone will never be a stepping stone. But instead, failures along with the knowledgeable lessons on how you failed could help you more. Keeping a scorecard open will help us to determine where we stand and measure how close we were to clinch that victory we craved. It simply means that you are recording what you achieved even if it does not turn out the way you liked. A scorebook for ignorant people maybe a way of boasting their journey, but the same for an intellectual entity would always be something to look back and carry forward. It helps them regroup and provide them with a better judgement when walking a similar path.
However in this world of pessimists and optimists, always try to make sure you fall under a realist category of people. Ignoring the negatives which pull you down and the positives which make you negligent. Always strive to be a better version of yourself and consider your score pad as a tool to propel not a plateau to settle.
Failures are not your stepping stones, but the lessons acquired are.
